Re: Chaining down ur tractor on the trailer - 9 years ago
You are correct, illegal to secure tractor to trailer by hitch.Beating down the road weakens things and wears them out. Fatigues cast parts really bad. This was a factor in a crash on a OEM DSS back in the day.Another rule written in someone's blood.Do NOT chain the pulling vehicle down by the pulling hitch!

I know u are a mechanic, and sometime a tech man, which I also disagree with because I think anyone that is selling parts to the pullers and wrenching on their tractors should never be teching them too ! But that's a topic for a different thread. Here is my point since u obviously didn't get it from my previous post " you do not own or pull a hot farm tractor in the state of Kentucky

heads you are right on the rule.Parker fly, I do not know if any are running billets. I was just putting it out there.TO INFO. You are half right in your post. If you go to IH and want a new 400 series block with there part # it will tell you to call Hyper, But the NTPA rule was OEM block or Factory replacement. This is how hyper got involved. Other wise it had to be in 500 production

Re: 4 valve head verses a 2 valve head which has the advantage - 9 years ago
Still legal per BOB rules as of today? If it is true that is pretty dirty to change the rules after somebody already starts building one and has invested countless hours and thousands of dollars to try something different just because other pullers are afraid of what might could happen. To change already posted rules because of fear when things could just as easily run bad as they could run good

Re: revised 2015 Outlaw Schedule - 9 years ago
Like to have more smoke at Whitewright, but the class you mentioned is booked on that same weekend in David City, NE & Gibbon, NE. Outlaws is fortunate to have 14 classes and can have multiple pulls the same day in different parts of the Midwest. One thing I will not do though is have the same class at two different locations on the same day. Not fair to either promoter and we have tried, but not

Re: DSS John Deere vs IH - 9 years ago
I AM GOING TO TALK ABOUT NTPA ONLY. so remember this before you blast me!NTPA rule is 650 cubes with up to 4 turbos in 3 pressure stages. The old rule ending in 2013 was having to run a OEM block. Now 2014 and beyond billet blocks are aloud, so with component chassis and all other billet parts there is NOTHING stock in a tractor in the DSS class if you can afford it. Hold on I am getting

Re: DSS John Deere vs IH - 9 years ago
So all of the Deere guys are doing all of their own R&D and building their own parts because nobody is doing any testing or building parts? Okay, if you say so. If you said that about the Massey guys, I'd buy it.

Re: Diesel VS. Gas - 9 years ago
Diesel is the only fuel being used in tractors. Been that way for a long time. Diesel is also the easiest fueled engines to make power. With gas and alcohol things have to be perfect or they fall on their face or burn up. The diesel can run at any fuel to air ratio and perform. With plenty of fuel, plenty of boost and enough water they will run until they self destruct. You can not throw fuel

Re: HP limit for stock 1066 clutch - 9 years ago
To be legal, you have to have every thing in the clutch STEEL. Most factory clutch parts are CAST. Bad things CAN and have happened under 3000 rpm. Heat is another factor to put up with. Pressure plate is cast. You may want to run a different class some time, that require SFI clutch set up. Do it right the first time. Will save you money later.

Contact the Yantes team out of Ohio - 9 years ago
Get with the Yantes team out of Ohio. Those guys have had their hands on 8.3 and 8.9 Cummins for longer than anybody I know. Those guys have faced every trial possible with those motors and can tell you where to go to get the right parts. Those guys know their stuff about the bigger Cummins, also Eddie Kerr out of mid-south is knowledgeable, but the Yantes team has always been a huge help to m

Re: Cummins ISL vs QSL 8.9L question - 9 years ago
Go to the 8.9L. Just make sure you have the block with the roller lifters. That makes stuff easier, and more affordable. As far as parts, we make camshafts, and sleeves so far. We also are going to make deckplates, girdles, and billet main caps. So most of the parts will be available like anything else.
